Seven out of ten young Portuguese adolescents have been contacted by strangers on the Internet and almost half (42%) of the contactees responded out of curiosity. Data are from a study published in Safer Internet Day by Microsoft.

The study shows that although most parents (92%) knows of Internet use by children, another third (31%) did not take any measures to limit or control use at home.

Already 34% have a computer, in the living room, to limit the use of Internet by children.

These data refer to the Portuguese case and the study was conducted in more than 10 countries, South Africa, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Greece and Egypt.
